The influence of African American recipient race on outcomes following simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation (SPKT) is uncertain. From 11/01 to 2/19, [the authors] retrospectively studied 158 Caucasian and 57 African American patients undergoing SPKT... [Based on their study, the authors found that] following SPKT, African American patients are at a greater risk for dual immunological graft loss whereas Caucasian patients are at greater risk for death with a functioning graft (DWFG).
