We Want You to “Follow” Us @ASTonCapHill

The AST Public Policy Committee, working in tandem with Bill Applegate and Chris Rorick of our government relations team at Bryan Cave, LLP, has been incredibly active on behalf of the Society. As a leading voice for transplantation, it is critical that we remain on top of the social conversations surrounding healthcare debates in Washington, DC.

As such, we’ve launched a public policy specific Twitter account – @ASTonCapHill. This account is separate from the AST Twitter account – @AST_Info – and will promote relevant events/activities taking place in Washington, DC. Our Tweets will deal with a variety of subjects, and may include updates on important events happening in Washington, DC, certain meetings that have taken place with legislators, links to relevant healthcare-related political news, and other public policy updates.

The goal is to give all AST members a glimpse inside the day-to-day activities in our nation’s capital and highlight some of the important work being done to advance public policy. Over the past few weeks, we’ve begun to “follow” key movers and shakers on the Hill, including those who champion Immuno Bill legislation (#immunobill) and other strategic transplant related issues. We’ve also “followed” similarly minded organizations and healthcare influencers, all in the hope of furthering the conversation about the importance of organ donation

So, if you want to be in touch with transplant policy issues and have up-to-the-minute details about what’s going on and how it affects your practice and your patients, we urge you to follow. For all those active on Twitter, “Follow” @ASTonCapHill today and tell your own community of followers to join our efforts as well.

If you’ve never used Twitter before, now is a great time to start! Go to www.Twitter.com and sign-up, then be sure to find AST on @AST_Info and @ASTonCapHill so you’re up-to-date on all of the latest news across the industry. With your help, we’ll further expand the reach of our Society and continue to engage more people in our worthy cause.

From your Twitter rookie Prez…
