AST Introduces Expanded Awards Categories
The AST Board of Directors has approved an expansion of the AST Achievement Awards to offer additional opportunities to members who are almost exclusively clinically or administratively focused. These awards will complement AST’s extensive research-focused award offerings and allow the Society to recognize the extensive contributions of members in diverse roles within transplant.
Three graduated Distinguished Career Awards will be open to non-physician clinicians and administrators at various stages of their careers. Members eligible for these awards include, but are not limited to, accomplished pharmacists, advanced practice providers, clinical psychologists, transplant administrators, and social workers.
Also new for 2021 will be the Physician of Distinction Award, recognizing outstanding transplant physicians whose careers are focused on clinical care.
The AST also established the brand new Advancing Equity in Organ Transplantation Award, which was established to recognize an individual whose work has made a significant impact on increasing equity and reducing racial disparities in transplantation. Learn more about this award here.
Nominations for the 2021 AST Achievement Awards opened on November 17th, 2020. Eligibility criteria for all AST Achievement Awards can be found here.
