Updates Available to Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview Documents
A guidance document and an interview form were updated by a group of subject matter experts, and the Stakeholder Review Group (roster) finalized their revisions. Both of these Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) documents were initially made available on September 10, 2014 and updated versions can be accessed at these links:
Uniform DRAI - Birth Mother 5-20-15.pdf
AATB-AOPO-EBAA Implementation Guidance Document - UDRAI Forms v2 5-20-15.pdf
The guidance document was revised to include directions for implementing not only the Uniform DRAI - Adult Donor form but also the Uniform DRAI - Child Donor form and the Uniform DRAI - Birth Mother form. Representatives of the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO), the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) developed the updates. In addition to incorporating special considerations involving the two remaining interview forms, new information includes expansion of the Introduction that contains the history and purpose of the creation of the Uniform DRAI forms and support documents, and a Child Donor - Form Selection/Decision Flowchart as an appendix.
One question (#27) was added to the Uniform DRAI - Birth Mother form to cover circumstances when a Child Donor has not left the hospital since birth and a Uniform DRAI - Child Donor form will not be completed. Details regarding circumstances and options are elaborated in the guidance document.
