The American Society of Transplantation (AST) has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the second consecutive year. This rating is Charity Navigator’s highest rating, which only 25% of charities receive for at least 2 consecutive years. The high rating is due to AST’s strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.

AST is currently accepting applications for The 2017 Resident/Student American Transplant Congress (ATC) Travel Award Program. This award targets residents and students who have expressed interest in obtaining more exposure to the field of transplantation before committing to training.

AST President Anil Chandraker wrote an article published December 9, 2016 for the 'Transplants' campaign published by MediaPlanet and distributed nationwide in USA Today.
Dr. Chandraker's article, entitled "From 'Unethical' to Miracle, and Beyond," was published in the USA Today nationally circulated insert and catologed online. The AST's new patient initiative, Power2Save, is also highlighted.

The Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute is accepting nominations for the 2018 Thomas E. Starzl Prize in Surgery and Immunology, awarded annually to a national or international leader in the field of organ transplantation and immunology.

The White House Organ Summit was focused on reducing the wait list for transplantation. During that meeting, a number of organizations announced new initiatives that were innovative and collaborative and intended to address the organ shortage.
